I am in Florida, but I meet with my students virtually via Zoom. This is convenient for the student, and allows the sessions to be recorded for the student’s later review!

My PhD in math is combined with clear and compassionate instruction. I know that math is challenging, but I also know it’s not impossible.

In my experience as a university instructor, high school teacher, and math tutor, here are my top 3 reasons why students struggle with math:
Their instructor teaches in a way different than the student learns. As your private tutor, I adapt instruction to the specific needs of my students.
They have holes in their math history that were never filled.
Math builds on itself, and if a previous level was never mastered, they will always be behind. I work to identify and resolve gaps in understanding.
They don’t have a dedicated time slot to study math. I discovered this with my own 12-year-old daughter. She came home with an unfavorable grade on her math test and my first thought was, “How did this happen? I’m a math tutor!” She has a great math teacher at school, a desire to learn, and a math dad! So, how did this happen? Well, she simply did not have a regular time slot devoted to studying math. So, she booked an appointment with her dad to have a focused and undistracted time of practice, and her grade doubled on her next math test. This is exactly what regular math tutoring will provide your student.
